Sandy was kind to us ......

November%202012%20006[2].jpg

We were very lucky and had no damage from Hurricane Sandy. There was heavy rain to the east of us, snow to the west of us, and rain and wind to the north of us. We got two inches of rain over two days and had moderate winds that just blew leaves off the trees. My heart goes out to all those who lost property and electricity during the storm. I was prepared with fresh batteries in the lanterns and plenty of food that didn't require cooking, but our lights didn't even flicker. I'm truly lucky to live in a region that does not flood and seldom has snow. I will keep those less fortunate in my thoughts and will donate what I can to the Red Cross.

The kale in my garden square is growing and will be big enough to pick soon. I love kale, so I'm looking forward to a big pot of greens. The last several nights have been in the lower 40s and upper 30s. I don't like it when I have to keep my windows closed and bundle up to go outside. The kitties have been staying inside more since it has gotten cooler. They've decided they want to snuggle.

My phone has been ringing all day long with political calls. I will be so glad when the election is over!

I heard on the news yesterday that neither campaign spent a single dollar on TV ads in Oregon. We've had a few paid for by political organizations but not one from the campaigns of either candidate.

Thank goodness. You definitely had an umbrella of protection over your area.
We have been bugged to death here also. I screen my calls in the day time and unplug my phones at night. Hurry Tuesday.

So glad you made it through the storm with no damage. We actually have had very few ads or calls here in MD as this state is so one party, I guess neither party feels the need to spend any money here.

Geez, I noticed Arkansas Patti is gettng tons of political phone calls. I live about 80 mi north of her near the state line and don't remember a single call yet.

May be because I am an independent and not registered with either party.

But then I understand that is the segment everybody is fighting over.

Not complaining, cuz I just hang up on any phone call that is not personal.Much better than running up my blood pressure over sales pitches and downright thieves trying to get personal information.

Anyway I and husband absentee vote and are automatically mailed paper ballots from county clerk. Our age and infirmities qualify us for this service. We hand delivered our ballots before our last trip to Little Rock about two weeks ago.

Since then I have avoided much news on TV; seen lots of football, movies, reality shows; amazing entertainment I have been missing.

Glad to read that you did not receive damage from Sandy's visit, Mary. We lost power only briefly at our VA eastern shore home. W had some downed bushes and trees and downed branches from a neighbor's tree, but were very fortunate as well. Unfortunate ohm family and friends in NJ were hard hit with power outages and downed trees.

I am so glad you were unscathed by Hurricane Sandy; it caused enough, more than enough, grief and misery as it passed through!
