14 Kids ...........

I'm sure most of you have heard of Nadya Suleman, the single mother of six who just gave birth to octuplets. She lives with her parents in a three bedroom house and has no job. She claims she wants to go to school to get a degree so she can support her fourteen kids. Is she kidding? There is no way she can care for and support these children on her own. She expects others to provide her with housing, food, clothing, child care, medical care, and support.

She is obviously a very self centered woman who is out of touch with reality. She spent thousands of dollars on IVF while receiving public assistance for the children she already had. I believe she is not responsible or stable enough to raise these children. They should be taken from her and put up for adoption. These babies deserve good homes with parents that will provide them with love, attention, and support.

Ms. Suleman's plea for help with her family of fourteen offends me. We are expected to reward her thoughtless behavior and carry the load. Why should responsible, hard working individuals be expected to support children that were ill conceived and planned for? Enough!

The inauguration ..........

I'm a bit behind in writing about the inauguration. The media has been so saturated with every detail of inauguration day and the Obamas, that I had to let it settle a bit before I wrote about it.

I voted for Obama, and I feel so much safer now that he is leading our country. I tend to think things through and make decisions based on logic and fact rather than on emotion, so I never got caught up in Obama mania. But, I think he was definitely the best candidate.

Obama has the intelligence and temperment to be a great president. I feel like he will listen to opposing views, consider the facts, and have the courage to make the best decisions. I think he will expect the people who work with him to live up to the high standards he sets for himself.

Expectations are so high, I'm afraid people will expect too much from him, too soon. He will not be able to cure our country's ills in a short period of time. We didn't get in this condition overnight, and it will take several years before we will see change. I hope the press and the people will give him time to work on our problems.

There is a renewed interest in our government and a feeling of hope across the country - I hope we can keep them.

OJ ..........

OJ Simpson was sentenced yesterday to 33 years for the robbery and abduction of a pair of memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas. He will have to serve at least 9 years before he is eligible for parole.

He got away with the murder of his wife Nicole and her friend Ronald Goldman. So even though he will go to jail for another crime, I think Goldman's father and sister feel a sense of satisfaction.

I don't think OJ thought he would go to jail. In his twisted mind, he thought he was above the law.
