The new thermostat for my dryer finally came Thursday afternoon. Hubby put it on the dryer as soon as he got home from work. I was looking forward to catching up on the laundry, but it was not to be. We had spent $100.00 on parts and the dryer still would not heat. I ended up calling around Friday morning and found a repairman who came out that afternoon and fixed it. He replaced another thermostat. I probably should have called someone to begin with. Next time I'll know better.
Whenever I would catch myself wanting to complain about my dryer not working, I would think about the people in Haiti - people who are hurt, homeless, and have no food or water. I cannot comprehend the devastation that has occurred. I see the pictures on TV, but they just don't seem real. My heart goes out to everyone who has been touched by this tragedy. Seeing the pain and deplorable conditions the people of Haiti are having to endure makes me realize how very priviledged and lucky I am. I certainly have no right to complain about anything.
Our weather has warmed up the last few days. I went out for awhile this afternoon and did some raking. Sure was nice getting out in the sun and fresh air. Tomorrow we are suppose to get rain. I tell myself - each day of winter we make it through, means that spring is one day closer. Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.

Summer arrived today ........
We've forgotten spring and moved directly into summer. It was 97 degrees this afternoon! I just checked the outside thermometer and it's 76 degrees at 9:15 PM. We haven't turned on the air conditioner yet, but I was tempted this afternoon. If it had been more humid, I would have. I'm not a big fan of air conditioning. I like to open the windows and have the ceiling fans running.
I spent yesterday cutting grass. It takes me about 3 1/2 hours on the riding mover to get it all cut, so it takes up a good chunk of the day. My sister came to visit at my Dad's this afternoon. We had a good time catching up on each other's news. Tomorrow we will tackle another project in the yard.
Hope everyone is having a beautiful weekend.

Thinking about Spring ......
Today has been a gorgeous day here in Southside Virginia. The sun was shining and the thermometer got up to 65 on my back deck. I walked around the yard and noticed that the trees were budding out. My roses had fresh young leaves, and the azaleas were beginning to form buds. Spring can't be too far away.
My groundhog did not venture out today, if he had, he would have seen his shadow. We still have more winter to get through. In fact, the weather report is calling for a few possible snow flurries tomorrow.
Thank goodness for days like today - makes it a bit easier to put up with those cold, wet days.

Rainy day organizing ..........
I have spent the last two days going through files and papers. The drawers of my file cabinets were so crammed full, nothing would go in or out of them. I had piles of papers that needed to be filed. It would have been impossible to find a specific paper if I had needed it.
.
But now, look at these neat, organized files. I bet it would take me only a few seconds to put my hands on any paper I needed. All five drawers are that organized as well as a large drawer in the computer desk.
.
I have two big boxes of paper to get rid of - one to toss and one to either burn or shred. By the time I finished a little while ago, I was beginning to feel like it would be easier to toss it all and worry about the consequences later. But it is done - Hooray! Now if it would only stay like that.
. We have had two days of rain - no ice or snow for us thank goodness. It's 55 outside right now, and they are actually calling for thunderstorms this afternoon.
.
I take Mazie Grace back to the vet tomorrow afternoon. Her incision does not look like it's healing as fast as it should and it's still puffy. It doesn't seem to bother her and doesn't look infected, so I'm hoping it is OK. I'm still keeping her inside.

Schools close for snow ?????
When I got up this morning and turned on the TV, I heard that our local schools were closing due to snow. I looked outside, but couldn't see anything white falling or on the ground. It was still dark, so maybe I needed to wait until daylight.
I went out later and looked all over the yard, on the road, and everywhere. I still couldn't find the snow. Do you see any? Wonder where it went?
The sun is out now, so I quess the snow storm is gone. I sure am glad I didn't get snowed in. I know all the kids are glad.
