Thanksgiving/Christmas cactus .......

My Thanksgiving/Christmas cactus began blooming around Thanksgiving and will probably bloom up until Christmas. I think it was suppose to be a Christmas cactus, but it's always a bit early so I call it a Thanksgiving/Christmas cactus. I keep it in the guestroom which has south and west facing windows. All of my plants thrive in that room.

We had a light dusting of snow last night. It wasn't enough to cover the ground, but it was so pretty coming down. It made me suddenly realize that winter has arrived. I need to get outside and winterize a few things, but it was too cold and too windy today - maybe tomorrow.

I haven't gotten any more sorting out done at my Dad's house. I think the clothes were one of the major clutter areas. I will probably leave most things for my brother to take care of. He was back in New Jersey last week, so I was cat sitting. Sandy (the cat) was lonely, so I sat and brushed him each time I went to feed him.

I'm hoping I can get some of my Christmas decorations up next week. I also want to do a little baking.

It is nice to see what the blooms will look like if mine decides to get busy. Hope it doesn't follow Pat's schedule-I don't have 30 years to wait.
Decorations and the smell of baking should bring the spirt home.

I love your 'cactus' -- I have a few of them and like to plant different colors in the same pot. Some years they bloom at the same time, and sometimes not... that's okay, though. Mine are blooming now, too.

Did someone say 'baking'? :)

These easy to grow beauties I had in 4 colors at one time. Mine bloomed clear into the spring.

Hi I've stumbled across your lovely blog and I now am your latest follower and admirer.I had two flowering cacti like that but after many years they died. It's been wonderful to see your photos of yours. I hope they bring as much pleasure as ours did.
Please feel free to drop by my blog and follow if you wish.
Warmest wishes.

Love your blooming cactus. Absolutely gorgeous.

Did the kitty belong to your father or is it actually your brother's cat?

I used to have one of those - forgot how beautiful they are until I saw your photo.

My Christmas Cactus is starting to bloom but is unfortunately 1/3 the size of yours. I must hunt out the decorations.

Hello again,
I dropped by to say thank you for visiting me and your kind comment. Hubby has been retired a few years now and when he first announce he was going to be at home all thetime I panicked. As it happens we get on very well and have a laugh....even in the snow :) It's fine as long as I have my laptop. Have fun and see you again soon.
I really like your plants...so pretty.

Very pretty!

They are calling for a major snow storm here this weekend. Yikes! Already. It seems summer was just here, too.
