Back again ..............

Mr. Possum was back again today. He was at the back deck looking around for something to eat. A bit later, he curled up in the sun beside a bush and took a nap. Later in the afternoon, I saw him go across the front yard to the field across the road. That's the same route he took yesterday.

Usually possums are nocturnal animals, but since we had snow on the ground for so long he was unable to find adequate food. Now that the snow has melted and it has warmed up, he's out trying to fill his belly.

We had a beautiful weekend ..........

We had a beautiful weekend - sunny and warm. It was so nice to be able to go outside without a coat on. All of our snow has melted, but we now have mud everywhere. I'm glad our driveway is paved. The driveway at my Dad's isn't paved and I hold my breath every time I drive on it, hoping I won't get stuck. I spent Saturday afternoon cleaning my car - inside and outside. I picked up sticks in the yard and drained water off the pool cover. The cats thoroughly enjoyed their weekend too. They chased each other all over the back yard and ran in circles.

The little fellow above was in the back yard Sunday. I had to put Mazie Grace in the house because I was afraid she would try to either play with him or attack him. I saw him in the front yard this afternoon. I think he's looking for food. I was tempted to feed him, but then he would stay around the house and I don't want the cats around him. Years ago we had a possum that ate with the cats every night. They can be rather messy.

Lotions, potions, and sprays ...........

My name is Mary and I am a lotion, potion, and spray addict. Continuing my declutter efforts, I decided to go through the stuff in the cabinet in my bathroom. It was crammed full of colognes, perfumes, body lotions, powders, and sunscreens. Where did all this stuff come from? I threw away a bunch of stuff that was separating or beginning to smell off. I have no idea how old some of the items are. I wish the manufacturers would put expiration dates on everything. Even after decluttering, I still have enough left to last me for years.

I'm always tempted by delicious smelling sets of bath gel, body lotion and spray. I'll buy a new set, use it for awhile then replace it with another new set. The half-used set goes in the cabinet. I love to pamper myself by soaking in a bubble filled tub, then covering myself from head to toe with lotion and spritzing on a wonderful scent. Ahhh - pure bliss.

Are there any other lotion, potion, and spray addicts out there?

We can see the ground .......

Seems like every time we begin to see the ground, it gets covered with snow again. This is my back yard this afternoon. A light dusting of snow is forecast for tonight and another storm will be here Monday. I heard tonight that every state in the US except Hawaii has had snow this winter. The storm which will give us a dusting tonight is dumping large amounts on the southern states - even Florida. We're getting lots of snow and Vancouver needs snow on the mountains for the Olympics. This has been a winter to remember.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and a Happy Valentine's Day!

We were lucky ............

As many of you know, the East coast has been hit with record breaking snow storms. Washington DC had the deepest snowfall in 90 plus years and parts of Maryland had over 30 inches. We were very lucky here in Southside Virginia. We got snow Friday that accumulated to around 4 inches, but the rain we got that night melted almost all of it. Saturday it turned back to snow and we got about 3 more inches of very wet snow that also melted some. I took the picture above this morning. As you can see our snow is not very deep and it had melted off the driveway. When I went to the store this afternoon, the roads were free of snow and dry.

Some areas in the state got deep snow and some areas got a lot of ice. Hubby works for an electric coop. He had to go to work Saturday morning around 5 AM and worked until 11 PM last night. He was up again this morning and out the door at 5 AM. He got home around 7 PM - cold and tired, but everyone has their electricity back on. Almost all their outages were in the western region.

Another storm is predicted for Tuesday. According to the weather map we will be just south of the snow, in the rain only area. I hope that is correct. I'm just not a cold weather or snow person and I have had enough of winter.

It's snowing again ........................

It's snowing again - looks like a blizzard outside. The prediction for this area is for snow, slush, sleet, and rain today and then more snow tomorrow. We were only suppose to get a total of 4 to 6 inches for both days, but it looks like we may have 3 inches already. I am really tired of snow and tired of winter. Our snow from last weekend was finally melting some, but the ground was still covered when this snow arrived. We have had more snow this winter than we had the last 10 years put together.

We bought a new bookcase that matches the TV console to replace the bookcase we had in the livingroon. We finished putting it together last night, so I have been filling it with books today. I have too many books - way too many books. My next project is to go through all my books and either freecycle or take to Goodwill those I don't have room for. It's going to be hard for me to get rid of them - I treasure my books.

I made a pot of chili this morning. We'll have cornbread with it for supper. Looks like we'll spend another snow bound weekend watching movies and napping under the throws. If you're getting snow this weekend, stay safe and warm.
