Colorful leaves ..........

image001.jpg

Our leaves have been pretty the past week, but are browning quickly. We're having cool nights and warm days. I worked today on cleaning out some of my flowers and hope to clean up my garden squares tomorrow. I have a few tomatoes left, but they are small and green, so will probably be hurt by frost before they ripen. I did pick a bunch of green peppers today.

I've been suffering with aching feet for the last month or so. I have self diagnosed myself as having plantar fasciitis and have decided that I need to go shopping for shoes with good arch support and cushioning. I've reached the age where comfort becomes more important than fashion in footwear. I haven't been able to use the treadmill or walk as much as I'd like because my feet hurt.

Ouch, I have that same problem and it took a trip to the doctor years ago and getting custom orthotics to cure me. Also, I have to always wear shoes. I found that annoying at first but now it is not even a thought.
Good luck, I know how it hurts.

It's funny to still see green and pretty leaves after what a weather mess we had recently. Pretty Mary.

I'm impressed you still have some tomatoes!

One of the things that is proven to help PF is stretching the foot. Basically you just gently pull the toes up towards you. Several times a day, to stretch the band beneath the foot. I think it's something like an 80% success rate for people with PF who do this regularly - I read it in my Runners World!

I reached that age about 20 years ago when even as a young woman I was on my feet so much.

I've learned (had plantar fascitis) that shoes with no heels are killers for women -- cause all kinds of problems. All those years of wearing flip flops caught up with me! Now I wear Dansko clogs most of the time. They're expensive but last forever.

Oddly, going barefoot helps my plantar fasciitis. But I also wear orthotics in my shoes. But at least one day a week I wear soleless moccasins. My theory is it helps keep things stretched out.
Good luck with this; I know it is painful.

That condition is very painful. I had therapy for a while then began wearing different shoes. My feet feel fine now. Also the foot doctor prescribed a cream to moisturize my feet. He says feet dry out even though I wear socks every day.

Good luck. Dianne

Had plantar fasciitis on two occasions years apart. Good shoes with good arch support—or custom orthotics—really help, as do as really good cushiony sneakers or walking shoes. SAS brand is what I often wear. Myofascial release helps, too.

What Lisa@Two Bears Farm said, too. Stretch your foot upwards several times a day. There are other exercises that help, too.

Nice Autumn scenes. It's bizarre reading all your commenters talking about plantar fasciitis problems because I have the same. I got mine through decades of wearing poor flip flops or clogs at work in an OR. I use Scholl heel pads. The guarantee is that the pain goes after 30 days of constant wearing which i would agree with. I found a pair of these heels by chance in a hiking shop near the boots and bought another pair from Amazon. For me it's a little painful occasionally after getting out of bed but to be honest I rarely think about now.

My husband has plantar fascitis, so I know how painful it can be. Hope you find something to ease the discomfort...he has used arch supports to some good effect.

Those leaves are gorgeous...we have been having such unusually warm weather around here, I wonder if it will ever feel like fall :)

I'm finally catching up with my blog reading.... hope you're feeling better! Did the shoes/inserts help?

Those leaves are really something! I have every sympathy for your aching feet! I have to wear shoes with a good support - fashion? What's that?

Still, hopefully people will look at me, not at my feet!
