A new refrigerator .........

013[2].jpg

Last Tuesday evening I noticed that the Diet Coke I took out of the refrigerator was not very cold. By the next day it was obvious that the refrigerator was warmer than normal. I put a thermometer on the top shelf and it registered almost 65 degrees. There was no cool air going into the refrigerator. I checked the freezer section and it was cooling properly, but the ice maker had quit working.

When planning our kitchen remodel, we had decided to keep the refrigerator. The only thing broken on it at that time was the water dispenser and I could manage without that. Well, fate had other plans. We had to throw out almost everything in the refrigerator and go to the local appliance store. Their repairman advised us to buy a new one rather than try to repair the one we had. Seems like modern refrigerators are only expected to work for 12 to 15 years and ours was close to the 15 year mark. I can remember when they would last 30 years or more. Guess that is the advantage of modern technology.

I've been wanting one of the french door refrigerators with the bottom freezer. The store only had the model I liked in stainless steel. I know stainless steel is suppose to be the popular finish, but I like white. It is easier to clean and doesn't show fingerprints and smudges. They had to get a white one shipped from Maryland to Richmond. They picked it up Friday and installed it that afternoon.

The contractors plan to start on my kitchen and bathrooms next week - possibly Thursday. Since we planned on replacing the dishwasher and installing an over the stove microwave, we purchased all three items at the same time. I really do like my new refrigerator. It has lots of shelf space and I like the way the shelves and bins are arranged.

I'm trying to collect boxes to pack up everything in my cabinets and pantry. We'll move it all to the garage while the remodeling is taking place. I have a busy week ahead.

That fridge looks great and I have a friend that tells me the freezer on the bottom is the way to go.

New is nice, isn't it? I know what you mean about the last-ability, though. My parents had one that Mother said just wouldn't die! It was nearly 40 years old and still working when they finally gave up because it wouldn't fit in the new house! Dad even painted it several time in the newest fashion colors!

I like white too but the next house I get, I'm going to get the stainless steel because it turns out it's an important selling point. Not that that matters to you. But the way we move...

Good timing for that refrigerator!

I really like your new refridge. I never saw the need to follow trends for they don't last as long as the appliance and soon you are hopelessly out of date. White never goes out of style and goes with everything. Enjoy.

We remodeled our kitchen (in a manufactured home, about 7 years ago, but I do remember the hassle and inconvenience.

We replaced all appliances, but were limited by structure of kitchen to certain designs. So I ended up with a very nice but conventional side/sid with cold water, ice cube and crushed ice dispenser.

I did buy a glasstop stove which I love, especially the convection oven fan

I bought white because I realized stainless steel in a manufactured home made the room look dark. When we are gone we really don't care what the house sells for as it is a humble abode we have remodelled only for our own enjoyment and convenience..

That is a huge beauty of a refrig for 2 people LOL

I wonder if the bottom freezer will be hard on your back. We have a side by side, but I prefer the old style top freezer models.

Thanks so much for the sweet comment on my Mother's Day post. I appreciate it. Hoping your day was special as well.

I love that type of fridge. I hate our side by side and could do without the ice/water dispenser. I don't understand the big deal about stainless appliances. White looks good to me.

How exciting!! And you know what? I prefer white appliances, too.
One Labor Day, while we were waiting for our company to arrive, our dishwasher and refrigerator died!! That was interesting...

Our fridge is over 10 years old and is still working but my mom is moving and needs a new one so I'm giving her mine and getting one just like yours. I've been wanting a French door fridge and I love white so I'm glad to hear you like yours a lot.

Great refrigerator; we just bought a similar one in black and it's so useful. Except, I don't think it's possible to put a bottle of wine upright on the door for easy access. Or, perhaps I've not figured that out yet -LOL-.

By UK standards, that refrigerator is HUGE! We thought ours was big when we had to get a new one, but its about half the size of yours!!

Now I'm thinking a really big one like that would be REALLY useful.....

And I prefer white to steel. My microwave is steel, and shows every smuge and mark.

I've been through the kitchen and remodel the house several times. The last remodel included appliances and cabinets. What a mess and really expensive. My husband and friends did a lot of it.

But don't forget the stress test, etc. And I pray for a good result. It sounds a whole lot like what I have but hope and pray it is not. If you get B.P. under control, all the other may go away!
